Oxidized Bitumen 75/35 (Blown Bitumen 75/35) is a semi-solid grade of this category. PUB-LTD Oxidized Bitumen R75/35 produced by aeration of Penetration Bitumen 60/70 at high temperature, without using a catalyst. This procedure causes a higher Penetration Index (PI). Also, its stability during heating is very convenient. Soft bitumen aeration under controlled conditions and temperature gives its rubber-like properties to the oxidized bitumen, which is more than penetration bitumen.
Oxidized Bitumen R75/35 ( Blown Bitumen 75/35) has a softening point of 70 to 80℃ and a needle penetration in the range of 30 to 40 desi-millimeter. All tests are based on the methods described in the ASTM standards; for instance, penetration and softening point tests are done according to ASTM D5 and ASTM D36, respectively.
Oxidized Bitumen 75/35 (Blown Bitumen 75/35 or R75/35) manufactured by PUB-LTD CO. is used in numerous industrial applications because of the properties it has acquired in the oxidation procedure. It is used in the production of special paints, civil engineering constructions, road construction, roofing, coating, flooring, as an anti-slip layer component, electrical operations, undercarriage sealant of cars in the automotive industry, in the piling industry, cable coating, in the textile industry, oil and gas pipelines coating, crack sealing, road repair operations, production of pulp papers, bituminous products, joint filling compounds, for waterproofing, hydraulic applications, dust proofing, production of lacquers, varnishes, pavements, as fuel component, and in paving.
Furthermore, it’s used as a raw material for adhesive, insulation, bitumen membrane isolation sheet, special bitumen-based paints and varnishes to protect metal structures from corrosion and operations, sound-reducing agent, in Portland cement pavements, as a base for synthetic turf, for producing rubber and plastic production.
For most final uses, bitumen heating is a critical phase. Heat control is very important, and appropriate heat control helps to obtain a high-quality product. Also, oxidized bitumen production needs a large surface to provide good heat transfer across the pure bitumen and the boiler. The maximum and safe heat level is 230℃.
Moreover, melted bitumen should not be left in the boiler to cool down and to be heated again because this causes energy waste and low production quality. Temperature control devices must be installed all the way to prevent such problems.
