Oxidized bitumen 105/35:
Oxidized Bitumen 105/35 (Blown Bitumen 105/35 or R105/35) is a hard/solid grade of oxidized bitumen. This grade is produced under special conditions, controlled and monitored temperature, pressure and reactor feet. Raw materials for this grade are penetration bitumen 60/70, bypassing very heated air through pure Penetration Bitumen, Oxidized Bitumen 105/35 achieved.
Two numbers classify this grade of Blown Bitumen, the first number is softening point, and the second number is needle penetration which is 105 and 35 desi-millimeter, respectively. R105/35 has wide usage in numerous industries like construction, coating, sealing, automobile, etc.
Oxidized Bitumen 105/35 that known as Blown Bitumen 105/35 (or R105/35) is named by its softening point and needle penetration (R(SP)/(NP)). These tests are done based on ASTM international test method that ASTM D36 and ASTM D5 are used for softening point and needle penetration measurement, respectively. PUB-LTD manufactured Oxidized Bitumen 105/35 due to oxidation procedure gets high rubbery property more than the previous grades. Because of this special property, it can use in various industries with different performances. According mentioned above, R105/35 is used in civil works, construction, fuel (combination with fuel), road operations, crack sealing, road repairing, roofing, flooring, facing, especial paints to protect pipelines and metal structures from corrosion, anti-dust component, waterproofing agent, dust proofing, insulation and sealing buildings, and adhesives.
Furthermore, it is used in sensitive industries like Petroleum operations, oil and gas pipelines coating, as a carriage sealant and silence material in cars and automobile industries, in undefined weather conditions (very hot or very cold). Moreover, its combination with Gilsonite can approve asphalt stability and durability to prevent it from deformation and to get crack through climate changing.
Heating Bitumen in most final uses is a critical stage. Generally, the most important thing in this procedure is heat control. Temperature and heat control can affect various aspects of the product, including its quality. The safe and recommended maximum temperature is 230℃.
All Oxidized Bitumen is not hazardous at below 100℃ during shipping operations. Heating and heat transfer should be control. Without good heat transfer may cause overheating and release low flash vapors, which these unwanted side products have a higher fire risk.
Moreover, melted bitumen should not be left in the boiler to get cold. Because it can cause overheating and needs more positional energy. Furthermore, placement and installing any temperature and pressure monitoring and control devices are very important. Because if their placement is not true, thermometers can’t display the real temperature that it can leads to poor monitoring and thermal conductivity.
